General English 4

Course description

The course is aimed at those who have finished English course at Pre-intermediate level, those who have got at least TOEIC 350 and those who pass CFL Placement test for GE4 courses.

Course outcomes

Upon successful completion of the course, learners should improve TOEIC score to 400.

Learners will also be provided with:

  • Vocabulary in daily communication: Personal information, work, adjectives, personal attitudes and qualities, leisure and fitness activities, city descriptions file, British English and American English;
  • Grammar for intermediate level: Present simple, present perfect simple, present perfect continuous, passive: present simple, present perfect, future, relative clause, suggest and object question;
  • Skills focus: Read long texts, identify main ideas, supporting ideas and detailed information, predicting new words meanings based on the contexts. Construct paragrahs in correct grammatical structures.  Take notes from written and oral texts in preparation for discussions and/or presentations. Understand and respond to unfamiliar situations; express personal ideas and opinions effectively. Use strategies to retain content words and key information from oral communication
